Tony Golik is an experienced Criminal Prosecutor who has sent thousands of criminals to prison. Tony Golik's reputation among his fellow prosecutors is extraordinary. He has personally prosecuted many of our most dangerous criminals; gang members who have murdered, robbed, and assaulted citizens in our community. Tony Golik has made sure these perpetrators were sent to prison; in many cases for 25 years or more.
Tony Golik's fellow Prosecutors support his campaign as does Art Curtis the retiring Prosecuting Attorney, Judge Robert L. Harris (retired 12/09) and the officers from every local law enforcement agency in Clark County. Why? Because Tony Golik is a natural leader and a seasoned Prosecutor. He knows what it takes to get the job done right. There are many subtleties that go into Prosecution that are important to each and every case. You must ensure victims and witnesses are comfortable and can speak in front of a jury. You must understand witness motivations, especially if they know the defendant. A gang crime is vastly different from a child rape case. The relationships between victims, witnesses and defendants play an important role in how the Prosecutor works a case.
We've all seen "Law and Order". The reason this series is the longest running series on television (surpassing even Bonanza) is that it is no simple task to Prosecute criminals. The facts and evidence of each case, the officers who work the case, the victims, the witnesses, even passing time, contributes to complexities of each and every case. Knowing all of these factors and knowing how they can play out can mean the difference between getting a just conviction and allowing a criminal to head back out on the street.
Tony Golik is the only candidate for Clark County Prosecutor who has prosecuted criminals. Read that again. Tony's opponent has never prosecuted. Not one case. The opponent has spent his career as a government office lawyer working on land use - writing appeals. Tony's opponent admits he has never taken a case to trial here in the State of Washington. He's been here for eleven years and has not done a single trial - not one. In fact, his opponent has not cited to a single trial in his entire career thus far. Tony's opponent has said that prosecution is simple. Big words for a fellow who's never done it. Is there any question why this strikes everyone remotely connected to criminal justice in Clark County as extremely wrong and disconcerting?
Sitting Judges are not allowed to openly endorse a candidate for a partisan election, but let it be known that the Judges of Clark County do not like that a potential candidate demeans the prosecutor's office and doesn't appreciate the role the Prosecutor plays in our criminal justice system. Judges want an experienced Elected Prosecutor in Clark County. They do not want someone that says prosecution is simple. They know better.
While sitting Judges can not legally endorse, a retired Judge can. Superior Court Judge Robert L. Harris was the longest serving Superior Court Judge when he retired this Spring. Tony Golik tried many cases in front of Judge Harris, including the Hersh homicide in April of this year (a 32 year old cold case DNA murder). Judge Harris endorsed Tony Golik.
The next Clark County Prosecuting Attorney must have the experience necessary to do the job right, the support of everyone in the criminal justice system and an appreciation for the complexities involved in prosecuting criminals. Tony Golik will keep Clark County safe, from gangs, from child predators, from murderers and rapists. Tony Golik has dedicated his career to Criminal Prosecution and his skill and leadership will serve us well.
Because experience matters..... vote Tony Golik Clark County Prosecuting Attorney.
